Deception Pass State Park

Post by Rich McVey » Thu Aug 13, 2009 6:57 am

This is my favorite campground/park. Hundreds of camp sites with alot more privacy than most campgrounds I have been to. Fresh and saltwater fishing. Its clean and well taken care of.

Now I'll let you in on a secret. Sunny weekend afternoons regularly fill up the day use parking for the beach. What most people dont know is that there are two additional parking areas/beaches that dont get the use the main beach(West Beach) does. North Beach and the Ampitheater beach will still have alot of parking and tons of open beach space when the West Beach is wall to wall humans. Goto North Beach and walk west along the beach and you'll pretty much have all the space you want.

Enjoy

Also if you fly fish, Pass Lake is an excellent lake to fish. It is just north of the bridge. I was there last Sept. and caught and released several nice rainbows ranging from 12-18". The highway is a bit noisy, but you get used to it after a while.

I also agree on Deception Pass State Park. Its ultra nice. Its a 5 star campground with sooooo many fishing and hiking possibilities.Theres a few lakes in that area as well as wonderful saltwater action. Campbell lake is a very nice freshwater lake with alot of different fishing avail. Cranberry Lake is another. The other lake is I think its Lone lake right off the hiway. Its a fly fishing lake. No motors. All C&r.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
