Well this year I got into the G.Pucci roller Swivels. Mostly because of the price Point, but also because of their smaller then barrel swivel size.
They are Made in China... (surprise!)
Long story short I bought all three sizes to test. 10, 7, 5.
Size 10 Rated at 30lbs
Size 7 Rated at 45 lbs
Size 5 Rated at 55 lbs.
So I set up my down rigger screwed it to the work bench, then attach 100lb duo locks to each ring of the swivel.
Test 1 Dead lift 10lbs (1 10lb ball)
Test 2 Dead lift 20lbs (2 10lb balls connected by another duolok)
Test 3 3" 10lb drop
Test 4 6" 10lb drop
Test 5 12" 10lb drop. (i'm not dropping anything heavier or higher on my floor.)
Test 6 Dead lift 20lbs after drop tests, and suspend.
Size 10 - Rated 30lbs - FAILED at 2" off the floor with 10lb ball in test 1.
Size 7 - Rated 45lbs - Sustained all the tests and passed, RESULT highly Elongated rings, but still fully functional.
Size 5 - Rated 55lbs - Passed all test, RESULTED in elongated rings but not so much as the size 7, and fully functional.
I have used the size 5's and split rings to replace all my hooks on my Kingfisher spoons and Coho Killers, so that the hook can not be leveraged loose from the fish's mouth.
The size 7 and 5's seem like a pretty good deal. I wouldn't trust the size 10 with a Trout.

They seem to be new on the scene and are starting to show up in the sports stores. I have no experience with them, good to know your outcome. I've been using VMC's with good success for the little guys and only Sampo's when you start getting into anything over about 10#. Any MFG worth it's salt should have posted real world specs not just theoretical.

New or not, I had a number of them break, or the locking snap tear open (because the tab holding the snap in place would bend out) this winter while steelhead fishing. I went with the number 10's because they were rated to 30 lbs. Using 10# Maxima UG leader all winter, I broke more of those swivels than leaders.

Agreed. The #10 SUCK. Period.
The two other sizes held up though.
