What kind of fish?......What kind of boat? or Boats?......Experience with guiding before? ......Do you have a licence?.... Are you bonded and insured? What price are you thinking of per person or trip?.....Are you First Aid and CPR trained?....Are you expecting to make a living from the Guide Service? How much training do you have on the waters you plan to guide on?...I don't think Swede really cares.... Good Luck

They all got good points. Keep the vision though and you'll get there if that's what you really want.

Take some classes on Business Management, will help ya figure out the logistics and the financials and you grow it to be a multi facility operation with guides that can take you anywhere from Alaska to Mexico.

Now when your business takes off then you can offer us here at WaLakes a juicy discount.

Im kinda lookin forward to some Bassin in the jungles of South America...

The first three items are what it takes to do it legally. If you really want to be a guide, knock them off and get with it. I'm certainly not saying don't do it. Go for it!!!! Get out on the water and learn all of it.!

Understand that guiding is hard work. Not much time to fish yourself as you are being paid to put fish on your customers line. You have to be a "people person" as no matter how many fish you put your customers on if you're a moody, grumpy, twitchy, or smelly person you won't get repeat bookings.
Guiding is a rewarding livelihood for those who dedicate their lives to it. Long hours, and pay not commensurate to the hours worked. If its the life style that you want then go for it. Part timing doesn't do it. You have to make a total commitment as you have to be available when the customer wants to go fishing.
I guided saltwater for several years and came to the conclusion that my compensation wasn't enough for the hours worked. You have to love what you do to succeed.
