FISHING RULE CHANGE

Chinook release required in Areas 5 and 6
Action: Requires anglers to release chinook salmon.
Effective date: 12:01 a.m. Aug. 7, 2009.
Species affected: Chinook salmon
Location: Marine Areas 5 (Sekiu) and 6 (Port Angeles)
Reason for action: Wild fish mortalities have exceeded pre-season expectations.
Other information: Salmon fishing remains open for hatchery coho and pink salmon. Daily limit is 2 salmon, plus 2 additional pink salmon. All chinook and chum salmon must be released, and all wild coho salmon must be released.
