Where can I find FLounder out of Mukilteo

Post by littlefishingbuddy » Fri May 01, 2009 7:56 pm

I need to catch some small flounder for bait for the lings. I seen a few guys using these today and they were catching fish. I will be fishing the wreck out of Mukilteo. Can you send me to the right place or give me a good idea where they are hanging out!

Thanks
Scott

If you have a boat, the tidal flats between mukilteo and everett are loaded with them. Not sure how thick they are this early in the year, but during the summer there's plenty of them there.

Use worms, sand worms or even earth worms or night crawlers will work just fine..... Look for a sandy bottom along the way to the wreck....should be out a couple hundred feet out from shore, just drifting along. If you use herring you will catch larger flatties. I think you are looking for 6 to 10 inchers for your lings at the wreck. I used them years ago out there. Good luck

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.

this will sound funny but tie up some yarnies like you would for salmon and steelhead pink/chartruce and hook herring strips 2 to 4 inches long on the hook 1/0 to 2/0 and use 3 to 4 half hitches and bounce it across the bottom. but go close to shore 15 to 20 ft of water and see what the bottom looks like and move straight out if it is a sandy bottom.
