Right now the kings are holding close to the bottom. You can try this, use a 1.5 oz or 2 oz banana lead with a 4 foot leader with a plug cut herring. Cast this out as far as you can and as soon as it hits the water close the bail on the reel. As the bait comes back toward you the bait will get deeper. After it hits the bottom the line will go slack, reel slowly until retrieved. I use this method and catch many of salmon off of local piers in tacoma.
