Area 13...where to start?

hey all. I invited my brother in law out on my boat for this weekend to do a little salmon fishing in the sound. I've fished area 13 once down off Johnson pt. several years ago so I'm pretty green on where to go down there. He's a flyfisherman, so we'd like to try for some of those close to beach silvers I've heard about. Is it too early to even try for them? I will also do some downriggin' if this doesn't pay off. My question is, can someone point me in the general direction to target a king or 2 in that area? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Denman, welcome to the site. I would suggest you pick up this months issue of F&H News. It has exactly the info. you are looking for. Another spot I would do some research on is Salmon University. You will find a ton of good stuff there and by the time you dissect all this you will be slaying the salmon in no time.

The silvers will probably be down in there in early september for the prime time to be fishing for silvers.

Thanks for the info guys! Maybe we'll just target some kings instead. I'll post later on how we did.

If you are going for kings I would fish the northern most areas of MA13. There probably won't be any kings down by the Nisqually yet.
