Northwest Fishing Reports

Just have a wild hair so I'm putting this out. I live near Golden Gardens, Seattle. I plan on going out Sunday morning and doing some trolling for some C & R silvers, and then up to a little artificial reef I know maybe to PLUNK for ling cod.
I would be looking for someone to enjoy the ride with. I'm pretty new to salmon fishing, but I know where these silvers are hanging out... so.. I'm thinking it can't be that hard. Absolute worse case scenario... we catch a bunch of dog fish,,, but the lines remain tight.

You don't even have to have the rod/reel/or gear, I've got it.
Anybody interested?? (Geez, I almost sound desperate!)

Run one rod for silvers, another for kings....Lots of native blackmouth in Area 10....I heard of a few teen lb fish caught already....

How would you run one pole for silvers and the other for kings?
Your allowed one pole per person. And here where I live. You can target Kings by hugging the bottom but it makes it tough to fish for silvers at the same time.
My sugestion is to fish with a 3-5oz weight ........ohhh waite maybe your talking the color differance ...White for kings....Red for silvers. Either or I would fish the same and enjoy the catch.

So Quad how was the luck out there

Quad took me out on his boat on Sunday. We launched from Golden Gardens. Trolled for salmon for awhile trying different depths, speeds & lures. Then hit an artificial reef and jigged for a bit. Moved out into deeper water and fished the bottom for awhile, then did a little casting lures for cutts. We each caught a few small flounders off the bottom, but that was it. Oh, I caught a sunburn - but that is pretty common for me. The weather was great! Thanks for the seat Quad!!!:cheers:

As you can see from Gringo's report.... it was a bust. After talking some more with Sam Kafelafish, I realize that I really do need to get the hang of my downriggers and make use of them. There was an area where we marked large schools of fish that hung in the bottom 20' of the water colum, and according to Sam that is how King's are found looking for bait fish.
I expect to get back out this weekend on my own and get down to their depth.

Quad, Something else to keep in mind is the spin of the bait. You will catch more fish depending on how you plug cut your bait and the action in the water. That black line that goes down the side of a salmon is the ears (lateral Line) They feel and are attracted to vibrations and will come from all depths if its enough to attrack them. As a deckhand You know whats going to do the best for catching fish when fish are around. I have caught salmon that you would think there's no way that salmon could of been hungry with all the bait it had in its mouth and stomach. The spin is very important.
