If you can get out on the water there is also blackmouth and lingcod fishing. Check out the multitude of state parks that are in the area. Most have beaches.

Sea Run cutts, Resident Coho, Fall silvers, resident blackmouth, summer kings, sculpins/flounder, can be had off the shore. Summer kings being the most difficult, but Kings are caught off some piers. I'm not too familiar with the South Sound and shore locations, but 12' Aluminum boats can be used out on the salt when conditions permit.

Whats up TAZ. Come November that area will just get flooded with Chum salmon. Kennedy creek is one of the top chum river/creeks in the state. Last year, as a beginner river fisherman, I was able to catch 8 in about 12 hours of fishing. My first dog salmon ever. I even busted out the ultra light and got one. Very easy fishing and one hell of an experience. There are some monster chums that come through there as well. My biggest was 15lbs and I had one on that was a lot bigger than that

Its not salt water, but there are quite a few kings to be caught in Capitol lake as well.
