Just curious if anyone knows of any good shore/pier fishing near Port Angeles? I am going to be in that area this weekend and am hoping to get some time in. Thanks for any hints or tips!

The pier downtown is alright. I would try some of the floating docks on Ediz Hook. Bring your camera for sure. You can take great photos of the mountains and Victoria BC.

I do have some great pics from there, that is where I proposed to my Fiance at 1.5 years ago (wedding is in august, talk about your long engagment!) I will have to try those docks, Don't even remember them. are there any restrictions in that area that I should be aware of or anything that works well right now? Thanks!

Congrats on marriage:cheers:

I'm can't remeber about restrictions up there, its been a few years. I'd check the regs to play it safe.
Don't forget to visit Cresent Beach(Salt Creek Beach)just beautiful scenery.

Hey Justin! Do you have the time for a charter out of PA? Sometimes they'll have cancellations and you can pick up a spot or there is one spot on the boat to be had. PA is a hoot out of a boat with a charter Capt. If not, the above advice is very sound. Once again, good luck up there! I find fishing from shore by Ediz Hook casting buzz bombs or striping flesh flies really works well in the salt. Of course, you'll want some hip waders or full on waders. Them silvers and SRC's come into feed along the sandy beaches along the Strait in some places! My dad caught a 45 pounder off Edizs this way!! KTK

No time for a charter :( someday I will do that. I am trying to convince my uncle in california to give me his older (not really old persay) saltwater gear for surf casting and pier fishing. He has a lot of it last I remember. I am going to give the hook a try if I can get away from family long enough. Thanks for the advice.

You know for the life of me I can't remember where the floating docks on the hook are that you mentioned KevinB. are they out near the coastguad station or more towards the mill? Thanks for all the advice, I am hoping to go Sunday morning if the Tides are right.

No worries. Its almost right next too the Coast Guard Base, right next to the Marina. As a kid,we'd catch Dungeness crab off the docks with fishing pole, hook and chicken. Visibility is excellent, drop the line and the crab would hurry over and munch on the chicken. Then slowly reel up and net. Fresh crab... I'm sure its illegal to do that but I was around 10 years old. The crabbers and fishermen thought that was cool and never said anything about it.

actually, from what i gather, crabbing with rod and reel is perfectly legal, and was considering trying it myself sometime. don't worry kb, you can sleep peacefully at night now...o:)
