I'd be angry too. What they are doing is totally illegal and is considered poaching. Call WDFW and let them know there are jackass's doing this. Some will say you are waisting your time.Don't let these individuals keep you from doing the right thing. I have called before regarding poachers, the toughest part is when others refuse to cooperate(some of them are on here:-$ )WDFW wants to know and will investigate.

From the sound of it, I think kavykid2k6 is saying that the sturgeon are getting caught in the gill nets. If so, then that's not illegal - it's just the main reason why gill nets suck. I'm sure there are many other fish wasted that accidentally get caught in the nets.

If I am not mistakin it is called by-catch. It happens to all gill netting. I think it was in Alaska cod gill netters had salmon as their by-catch (30,000).

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

It's all pretty bad. On another website we're talking about the LW purposed King fishery and the tribes netting in the lake...it's all about by-catch and it's all very sad...all preventable too, that's what's so disheartening about it all.
