Well we will have three aboard. So one down rigger down on each side pulling a Hotspot Flasher, and a King Fisher spoon or what ever is working.
Now here's my debate. I am planning the third line to be positioned aft , it'll be a 9.5ft rod with a Double deep six on it pulling a 4 or 8" flasher or dodger or a fish flash and a coho killer or spoon, maybe a hoochie. The goal here is to keep the gear drag minimal to get as deep as is possible. Oh... or a humpie rig hmmmmmm......
I realize that it won't go deep pulling weight, but hope it will still be of use.
I got two new flashers I am dying to try, The UV Scale with green stripe and Glo on the back, and a Silver Scale with Blue, green and purple scaled translucent UV stripes with Glo on the back. And a 4" white and hott pink spatter dodger.
My questions revolve around the third pole going aft and the best way to utilize it.

Re: This Year's Boat Plan
Have you considered stacking on one of the downriggers? It's not hard to do and will get that third gear down easy. Otherwise, I have run a third rod off the back on a Deep 6 with the other two rods being on DRs. Use a smaller flasher, the 8" variety to decrease drag. I haven't seen a decrease in fish being caught with a smaller flasher. That third rod off the back is going to cover any of the shallow silvers/pinks, while you'll use the DR to go deeper on the other two rods. So it's OK that your Deep 6 six rod is working around 35 ft deep or so. Send it back 40-50 pulls.

Re: This Year's Boat Plan
A deep six and dipsy diver is all you need, even a 2 oz weight can catch fish.
You didnt mention where or what you will be catching but the "middle" rod has caught plenty of fish for our boat.
Kings, coho, sockeye, pinks, chum, trout, whatever it is. Sometimes the "middle" rod will out fish or catch the only fish for the day. Put a big flasher or small, spoons, squids, and plugs. It all works, dont over think it. The diver rod will catch fish.
40 50 pulls is a good start, i normally pull between 50 - 70.
