we headed in by coincidence on derby day this weekend. Had really very poor luck. Fishing with the hoochies and all different depths. I think the one we finally landed was at about 60feet. The fish finder showed a lot of fish in some areas but they weren't biting. I know some boats pulled in a few keepers, but most of the folks I talked to said they weren't having any better luck than us. Anyone have any tips for the area?

I was out there for the durby on saturday. We only caught 1 salmon in that area, but we did see a few other boats hauling in fish. Most of the boats were Mooching with the current when we got there. Our only catch in that area was while trolling flasher with coyote.

We went fishing at Gig Harbor around that area on Tuesday and caught 1 king and 3 pinks within an hour and a half. We used herring that my dad prepared with the rock salt and all that with a hood and trolled those. There was 1 area withint these 2 points where we caught all the fish at everytime we passed by up around the long dock on the Gig Harbor side. We fished 50-60 feet down with our downriggers.

My tip: Don't be dead set on fishing Pt. D. if you go out. There are other areas to fish and most of them will be more productive than Pt. D.
