Saltwater Fishing License Online Or In Person?

Post by kutthroatkilla » Thu Apr 24, 2008 10:34 am

Question: How long does it take for the license to come in the mail if you order it online? I've always been curious of this...the internet thing you print out I believe is not valid unless you get yours in the mail, is that correct? Sometimes I think it takes like 2-3 weeks for it to arrive to your mailbox. Thus, getting one in person would make more sense. Just wondering if anyone has any experience in buying licenses online and how long it takes to arrive.

Hey Kutt,

I have been buying my fishing licences online for the past few years. As soon as you buy it - it puts you to a page where you can print a temp license that is good for 10 days (just remember to sign it). I have always gotten my license in the mail before the temp expired. The only thing that you don't get right away is the parking permit for your vehicle. Another good thing about it, it that you have a userid - so you only have to fill in the majority of the stuff (address, phone, etc.) once and it saves it. The next year you just confirm the info is correct and you are on your way.

My wife thought she might want to fish this year, so we ran over to Joes to get her a license. Took FOREVER, and I had to help the guy figure out how to do it.#-o I am definately sold on the online thing!
I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

Perfect, thanks for that thorough answer. Sounds like it lasts for 10 days until you get it in the mail...perfect! Thanks again Gringo. Yeah I just didn't want to get fined out there fishing the salt after having purchased it online the night before...:-"

I bought mine online this year and printed out my temp. About six days later I got it in the mail. And then in another six days I got another. They duplicated the license, catch record and parking permit! Only one of them had the cool hanging thing for the parking permit, but I have one from last year, so now I have a parking permit for my jeep and one for the wife's car...BONUS! If I lose my license I will not have to pay for a duplicate!

Sounds like the Joes you went to was training or something. I got my combo.license at Joes here in big P-Town:albino:
I was really happy with the service here. They swiped my ID and then done. I went to Freddies last year, the process took at least 20 minutes. By the time I walked away I felt like I had been violated. With all the questions they asked I was really surprised I didn't have to submit a urine sample.:-"

I ordered my combo fishing license on-line and received it in about 7-8 days. Been buying mine on-line for years.
