Re: Edmonds pier
we used to use white darts, careful aways out there is a nasty tire pile that creates a nice snag, but be sure to cast out to the tire pile, thats where the fish are.
Yes i am 6'8", NO i didn't play basketball in school
Re: Edmonds pier
If you are using a 1 1/2-2 oz dart you should be able to get well past the tire pile.... Let it sink to the bottom... White or Green and yellow are great colors.... When jigging, they are gonna hit it on the drop so be prepared...
Re: Edmonds pier
And be prepared to wait a long time and tire out your jigging arm. I live right by the pier and rarely fish it. If you're going for salmon, fish it early and go home, by the time the sun comes up the fish aren't that close to shore anymore. Even for humpies the pier is slow. Lings get fished out in the first week of the season, which is closed now, and the rockfish that are there are off limits. Crab are available, if you want undersized and females, it gets hit hard and fished out right away. You can catch ratfish and mudsharks all day, and the pile perch will always eat a night crawler, but that's about it as far as fish are concerned. It's too rocky for flounders. If you're after salmon I'd recommend the rivers to the north and south. Just my two cents though. If you're going to give it a try, the point wilson darts in white and greeny-white work, make sure you bring a reel with lots of line so you can launch them way out. Three or four fish in a season is pretty darn good, when the bite is hot I've seen maybe four or five fish brought in in a day.
Re: Edmonds pier
I went down on Friday morning with my son. I ended up getting a hit, but the fish got off. It was very slow. It is more of an exercise in patience than a fishing experience!

I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

You are correct! I guess that is why I enjoy teaching my kids to fish, maybe they will learn a little patience.
Re: Edmonds pier
Yup, green and white jig. I've also seen some guys with some kind of white fly or hootchie over the hook. Not sure if that matters, but the day I was there, they both caught a king. Bring a bobber for fishing with herring or a brads cut plug when your arm gets tired from jigging.
Re: Edmonds pier
Hit the pier this A.M. , got a 6 lb'er but not to many caught... I heard Friday that it was on fire, but like always.... Couple of days late....
