When you mentioned toe tags, I didn't envision an actual toe-tag.

This is what I was going to do for mine:

Print up twelve, cut them into strips and hook on the bend of the hook. Actually the e-mail address is not needed since it is coming from a site member. They can email the person through the site and get the tying instructions from the creator.
thats exactly what i do to mine. im always doing at least 4 swaps at any given time...

Name of Swap, year
Tyer Name
Fly Name

Mike Carey wrote:yes, I was thinking of that issue. The box probably won't have enough room for twelve toe tags. Not to cause more work for you beresford, but one suggestion would be to line up all the flys on a sheet of paper with the tags under them and take a digital picture, then print it out twelve times. But I don't think it will be an issue as the tags will tell what the fly is made of so we should be able to figure it out.
thats what im going to do, picture (maybe if cammera will work :bom: )
sheet, or mater tag..

and recipes if they are provided!

Sounds great. Thanks for letting me know they arrived.

It is interesting seeing patterns from other countries. While in New Zealand, I discovered that many of the flies used here, also work over there. They do have one pattern, The Blow Fly, that is an imitation of a fly that is found in Australia and New Zealand. The fly itself, is predominately found around sheep herds. As you know, sheep are everywhere in Australia and N.Z. The fly in New Zealand has a bright metallic blue body.

Whoa! I never thought of that. The Carey is a N.W. pattern. Any relation?
Marc, the Carey Special was invented by George Biggs of Jerome, Idaho. The fly was made popular when Marv Taylor, a writer and newspaper editor in Boise Idaho published it. He changed the name to Carey Special when he included it in one of his books. Carey Lakes is the lake George Biggs showed Marv the fly at (North of Jerome, Idaho.)

George was a good friend of mine, and Marv was a casual acquittance.

I regret that I was called out of town to DC for all of last week.

If it is not too late, PM me today (12/10/2007) and I'll get you a dozen by the end of the week.

If it is too late, well, it sucks to be called out of town for work. #-o

I will be sending a dozen Canadian Brown Mohair Leaches. Simple pattern, full of life, color, and effectiveness.

Flies are tied today, will ship tomorrow night when I get off work. You should see them by early next week at the latest.
