For the last month or so my son and I have been catching some bass in Phoenix and drooling over the huge Grass Carp we saw cruising by. After some trial and error we came up with a doughball formula that the big fish liked...great day today with lots of bites, 4 hook-ups and 3 Amur photographed and released.

that looks like a gold course pond behind you. Neat looking fish - member of the carp family?

Yep..Asian Grass Carp or "White Amur." They plant them to control grass and algae in urban lakes and the canal system. While not an "elite" fish, they can be tricky to catch, and pull like a truck! Back to WA in a couple weeks to chase bass, Kokes, sturgeon, etc. Spring Training is about done, M's did well, so time to come home!
