Has anyone used one of these? Are they any good? How much do they normally sell for?

I've been using one for about 6 months now and I like it a lot. Use it to drift for salmon and steel and coupled with my clarus rod it works great. I believe I got mine for about $110 at cabelas. Been using power pro on it and have not been dissapointed.

Ocktane, do you have the 300? I'm thinking of putting it on my 8.5' med/fast action and using braid and using it for float/jig for steelhead and also for bottom bouncing/jigging for walleye. What would be the minimum size a guy could get away with, 100? 200? Brian

I have the 301A. I have it on an 8'6" med-hvy, fast action using braid and I really like it. I imagine you could probably get away with a 200 but honestly I dont know, I didn't really check out the 100s or 200s when I bought this reel. (they only had the 300s and 400s if I remember correctly). I imagine it would work well for float/jig for steelhead, never fished for walleye so I can't help ya there.

Im sure a 200 would be fine. If youre using braid youll get around 200 yds on there of 30lb test. It will be enough and the reel can bring in 30lb plus kings so Im sure it will handle a walleye fine. I wouldnt use an 8 1/2ft rod for a float rod though. Id go with a 9'6 or bigger. It makes line mending much easier. But I see people fishing for everything with just a trout rod so who am I to say.
More fish please!

I believe 30lb test in power pro equals to the Dia of 8lb mono I almost got 300yards of 30lb on my Curado 301e but added alot of Mono to the bottom first.
