But I have no idea where to start. Gear, and location.
We just started going trout fishing mainly this late spring, early summer, at the local lakes.
She wants to try and go after steelheads at the rivers now....:albino:
Our current setup right now is, egg weight, bead, swivel. Then ~5ft leader with hook at the end.
Been using power eggs.
Now, will this setup work for steelheads?
If not, what gear do we need.
My hardware is, a 7' Ugly Stik Lite, with a Shimano Stradic 2500. Using 6# P-Line 100% Flourucarbon.
Her's is a combo from Wal-Mart. Dont know the details of it.
Also, where can we go? Legalities issues?

Check the regs for each area fished, some are selective part of the year and bait is OK at other times. C&R all Nate's weather you have to or not. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure the Lewis River is open for steelhead, I think the steelhead should start to be coming in now. Instead of using egg weights, a better way of not getting caught on the bottom of the rivers is to use the slinky weights. You pretty much fill it in with slipshot weights or make your own. If youre fishing from the bank on the river, you can use sand shrimp, yarn, pink plastic trout worms, jigs, or eggs.

try the green river. Go up to flamming gyesr. It costs $5 a day to hang out at the state park. But it is kind of slow right now, but its not going to get a whole lot better. The best bait is a jig and sand shrimp. You can also use any lure or spinner that you would use for trout, but bring it up a size or 2. I went fishing around there and had a blast. We didnt catch any keepers but we caught a whole bunch of smaller fish. Im new to river fishing as well, but there is nothing wrong with learning by catching a bunch of little fish and taking advantage of it. You cant use treble hooks on the green, 2 fish daily limit w/ a 14" min. size

how do you change the tremble hooks on the spinners and such? I dont see a way for my rooster tails and my kastmaster.
Also, is there only 1 spot at flamming gyser to fish at?
