Floating over the lillies, bad?

So, I read some comments on Mike's report of Phantom Lake (in the secret lakes reports) and thought of this question.
Is it OK to row my pontoon across the lillies? There at Phantom, there is a place left of the dock that you could use to launch a pontoon (something wider than a fishing float tube). But, in order to get to the lake, you would need to row across the top of all the lillies (not like there's a shortage there). Is it a no-no to do that? Or is it OK?

Row away! And take a couple more out while your at it. Lily pads grow fast and take over quickly. Your not harming a fishery but messing a bunch up. Actually, they are more harmful to fisheries than most aquatic plants and have to be cut back or poisened every year in some lakes or they would just take over everything. Some on a lake is ok, but just like anything in life, to much of something is never a good thing.

Cool. I assumed so, but I just don't want to do something that people generally thing is a bad idea.

No, it's not OK to row across them. You need to get an electric trolling motor and chop them up. Seriously, is this really a problem? Are people really starting to get all protective about lily pads?

I will have to check that other launch area out. Bass fishing out of a tube is a pain. I couldn't get very accurate casts. Maybe I was just out of practise. No concerns about those liily pads!

That should be fun. I do have a trolling motor, so I just might have to.
