Planer Boards

Post by Palmer » Thu Jun 14, 2007 11:29 pm

Has anyone used planer boards on Lake Washington? In the early spring I've noticed lots of nice trout jumping 20' away or better. I know that the boat is pushing them away. Now a planer will put my fly or lure out there and give it a jerky motion if there is some chop on the lake.

Planers are extremely effective on Lake Pend Oreille for trophy Kamloop Rainbows.

Sure they aren't jack salmon? I've seen a lot of them too. about 6" max.

I found some small planers at the marine store and at 3 River Marine. I'm going to test them on Lake Washington today with a fly.

I tried it and it worked about half the time. Sometimes it sank and it didn't jerk in the chop giving my lure more action. I'll get the real thing next fall.

I'll be waiting for a report. Good Luck! Lake Wa. is my go to, get in early and get out early lake. Always catch trout. They go deep in the summer.
