Circle hooks, any thoughts???

I may be the last one to catch onto this new fad, but in doing some research today, I came across this in-fisherman article, about "circle hooks:" http://www.in-fisherman.com/magazine/ar ... rcleHooks/

These hooks are designed to significantly lower fish mortality rate, as well as greatly improve the amount of fish you catch. It sounds like the best of both worlds. I've also heard that when fishing with this particular form of hook, that the fish hooks itself, and the hook set will become more secure, the more the fish tries fighting. In fact, setting the hook will have a negative effect by pulling the bait right out of the fishes mouth.

My question to you folks is, do any of you fish circle hooks, and if so, are they really worth all the hype.

Thanks!

Joe (aka beerman)

I much prefer the circle hook, because I have found out that it seems that the fish do set the hook themselves.

Since the fish hook themselves, you are not suppose to set the hook, because this just yanks it out of their mouth. This is going to be my BIGGEST PROBLEM! Setting the hook almost comes as naturally as breathing to me. I'm going to have to set my rod down when I get a bite, blindfold myself and count to 60 to give the fish sufficient time to hook itself (kidding, lol). It should be interesting though.

Doesn't sound like they would work for trolling or am I missing a technique.
