Does anyone know if the kokanee are biting yet. I usually start fishing for them in July but I have never tried it in May, so I was wondering if anyone was having any luck for them.

Yes, they are around, and getting much bigger. I have managed a few out of Samish Lake this season while trolling trout.

I'd say a 0000 dodger wedding ring/corn combo would be the ticket. Try 20-50 feet of water.

There was a dozen boats in your back yard and fish are being caught - they have been 10 to 15.5 inches long and are being taken from the surface down to about 35 feet. Water temperatures at the surface today was about 60 degrees so with this warmer weather expect the fish to continue to move to deeper holding areas.

Standard koke gear.

Some of the smaller lakes came on earlier.

I fished Stevens Sunday afternoon and we were catching some on the surface. I will be back this coming Friday morning.

I fished Rufus Woods a couple years back this time of year and caughtem'. They're 2-3#s there - much bigger than anywhere else. I've been told that when you troll and catch one, turn around and go back through them about 10' deeper. Keep doing this deeper and deeper until you get to the bigger kokes and the trout that are eating the kokes. The bigger kokes are on the bottom of the schools and the predators are down there as well.
