Walleye October strategy?

Post by SlipSinker » Mon Oct 02, 2017 9:43 am

Hoping for some advice from seasone walleye fishermen:

Mid October, Potholes/Moses. Renting a boat one day, shore-fishing another, probably.

What kind of tackle/method are you using? Jigging? Cranking? Any tips on methods and specific gear much appreciated!

check out the old reports too. You can use the reports section to fine tune for walleye reports only on each of these lakes. We also have some fall potholes walleye videos you can watch. Worm harnesses and bottom walkers work well.

I'm going to a X2 on that one. Wally's are funny fish, easy to catch but hard to find. They seem to just disappear at times and when that's the case best of luck. Watch out for dropping and low pressure in the weather. If you find them hanging out looking for food they'll bite on almost anything. One more thing, they are extremely sensitive to light so very, very early before dawn and as it's getting dark at night. Not to say they won't bite during the day but they're a lot more likely to come up shallow if the sun isn't over head.
Build a man a fire and he's warm for the night. Light a man on fire and he's warm the rest of his life!
