Lake Wenatchee 1st week of August
Should I book a spot at the state park for the 1st week of August to fish Sockeye?
Do you think it will be open by then?

Re: Lake Wenatchee 1st week of August
We fish Lake Wenatchee every year and from every thing I have been hearing is that it should be open by then. My best advise is don't worry about being there the first week it opens unless you like long lines at the boat launch and short tempers while at the short dock. We stay at Midway Village over by Fish Lake(less then 10 minutes away). They have a nice RV park with tent site and cabins for rent, are reasonably priced and have great ice cream. In the past they also have had Non Ethanol gas for sale. I'm not promoting ant guide service but check out Slammin Salmon Guild service, this is like his back yard fishery and he seems to know the whens and hows. He had a post on Facebook last night starting to take reservations and he said he thinks it will be a six fish limit again. I don't know how he gets his info but he always seems to be correct about this lake. Good luck and maybe we will see you there, we will be in the Seahawk Hewes. Bob

Can anyone tell me if Wenatchee is a first light fishery like Baker?

In our experience, it's a better biting fishery and not just first light. After noon it gets tougher. There's also evening fishing, but it's hit and miss. Bottom line, the fish are a whole lot more cooperative than Baker Lake. You'll have a blast!TeachingTitusToFish wrote:Can anyone tell me if Wenatchee is a first light fishery like Baker?

What kind of set ups are people running?
Re: Lake Wenatchee 1st week of August
Last year it was two or three single barbless RED hooks tied about one inch apart on a leader about 6" to 10" behind a small chrome dodger. If you bend the leading end of the dodger a little it will give you a lot more action and that seemed to be what these fish wanted was action. Well that's the set up I am starting with this year so they will probably want some thing different. One word of advise about fishing this lake is to check out where the mass of boats are fishing and then you go some where else. There will be fish all over this lake so don't fight the crowds. We have our favorite areas but when it gets crowded we go some place else and we catch fish everywhere. Good Luck

Just wondering if anybody will be monitoring their VHF radios while on Lake Wenatchee. We will be on channel 69

Did anyone bit Lake Wenatchee for the opener? I'm curious how the fishing was. Thanks in advance for your response.
Re: Lake Wenatchee 1st week of August
I am headed there today and will be there for a week or two. All the reports I read about the opening day looked good, several limits or close to limits. The guys from Mack Lure posted a video of Facebook that is a must see. They went into a lot of detail about gear and depth. They said they were on the water just after 4am and had four limits by 6:30

I will be hitting it in the pontoon, wind permitting, Sunday evening and Monday AM. Say hi if you see the guy in the pontoon that looks like he does not know what he is doing! I will keep an eye out for the Seahawk Hewes.
