I was fishing the other evening off the dock at Black lake, in Olympia, when a boot king came swimming by. It looked to be 10-15lbs, and very dark and crusty. Has anyone ever heard of Salmon in Black Lake? I'm guessing it came from the creek by the college just went a little too far. If I would of thought quicker I would of taken a picture, I was just in awe and it happened quick.

Black lake drains via Percival Creek into Capitol Lake, which is on the Deschutes. They get tons of kings back into the Deschutes there, you can see them at the fish ladder at the falls. They shark around like crazy in the lake, it's a favorite past time of some of the kids in Oly to go down the trail and snag chinook from the bottom of the Capitol Building park, by where they hold lake fair. I wouldn't be surpised if that guy got lost and went up the other creek.

My parents managed Columbus Park on Black Lake back in the early 80s while my wife and I were stationed in Japan. I remember my Dad talking about the salmon that swam up the creek where it runs through the park and empties into Black Lake.
