Does anyone know when they open the gates at Quincy lakes for the 2013 opener? Would like to get in and setup camp ahead of time.

I would call the appropriate district office to find that out. The gates were still locked yesterday around noon at the Quincy Lakes west entrance and also Martha lake. The east end of Burke was unlocked and I interpret that to mean Burke was stocked for the opener with "plants".

Was the through road open? Just the lake gates closed?

Zen, were all the lakes thawed out and no ice? I may head over a couple days early, so would think all the gates would be open in the next few days. I have a geocache in there that someone reported a find today, so maybe the gates opened late today?

The flats section of Burke may have had a skim of ice still left on it. I did not bring my binoculars so I couldn't tell if it was ice or flat water. From a distance flat water and ice look similar. Martha and the close to half mile of Burke I could see were ice free. The west end of Moses Lake is ice free. The wind we had broke the ice up and piled it up on the shore. It was pretty thin ice though.
I'm fishing on Friday and driving thru the west Quincy Lakes area gate. My guess is the bio's or some other WDFW personnel will start ungating them today or the next couple of days.

Thanks for all the info. on ice and good news on the gate. Long range forecast shows it warming up by the end of the week, 63 by Friday, so that's almost summer time weather....

Pay close attention to the wind data on the forecasts. Today would be small craft warnings and dangerous to be out. I just had a beach ball fly by the house and no telling where it came from. Maybe Hoquiam?? I think the winds are around 40mph today.
If it's real windy either find a place in a less windy spot or consider a different weekend. We also have dust storms in effect today.
