Im looking for some good places in NE Washington where I can take my 2 year old son fishing. It could be either lake or river. Im looking for either shore or dock fishing since he isnt quite capable of riding in my aluminum boat yet.
I dont care what fish are there as Im taking him just to catch something...he doesnt care what we catch lol. I'd prefer to still fish but cast & retrieve would also be good as that keeps him more entertained...so some place that isnt really weedy would be ideal...though when fishing from shore that isnt always possible.
I live in deer park and would like to keep it under an hour drive.

I live way on the other side of the state, but last year I went over to Deer lake. We only fished the lake for about 3 hours and we caught 6 or 7 trout, they were all pretty nice size, the biggest was 17". We used a 1/2 oz. slip weight, a barrel swivel, 3' foot 4lb leader, size 8 hook with an orange power egg and chartreuse power bait. I don't know if there is public access, because we were fishing off a private dock. We didn't try for any warm water species, but we saw a bunch of bass and bluegill swimming around in the shallows. The lake also has catfish and a very large variety of trout, Rainbow, brown, brook, lake trout and kokanee. This lake also got a very large amount of stockers. And I hear a lot about nearby Loon Lake

Head to Waitts Lake. Go to Wynnona resort. They have lots of trout, bass and stuff. The release lots of trout they raise and the local hatchery dumps brood stock. German Browns too!
