Ever had a hard time breaking down the sections of a rod? Here's a trick I use:
When putting the rod sections together, take your finger and rub the side of your nose (not the inside guys) and then rub your finger on the end of the section before inserting it into the ferrule. There is enough oil on your finger to apply a thin coat of lubricant so they slip apart easily. I never have sections sticking together.

I do the same thing to beer when it foams up. The oil from your skin breaks down the bubbles in a hurry.
Good idea Marc. But can I still rub the inside of my nose?

That is very funny...... I can remember clearly about 1970, my dad would rub the end of the rod in his hair... and then it was no problem to undo. Looking back I recall guys his age at that time used to use stuff like that Grecian formula 16 or whatever.... I think that a slight sheen of oil in the hair was hip or something.

He may have used Brylcreem because the ingredients of it was mineral oil and stabilized bees wax. It was very popular in the early Elvis days. It was popular because it would hold the "duck tail" in place.
