What are your favorite seasonal fish activity indicators?

Seems like I've heard a million of them over the years. ie: "when the cherry blossoms bloom, bass are on their beds" I'm sure that these rules of thumb vary by region, waterbody and species, so I'm curious what my fellow NW fisherman use. For years Ive monitored surface temperature in the spring and settled on 52 degrees as my trout activity indicator..... but this varies hugely year to year. Black crappie seem to start moving shallow around the same time....in my limited crappie fishing experience.

Could be an interesting topic if we get a decent amount posts, and something to do during our fishing ban. Who knows, maybe fishing will be the best it's been in years after this (first ever?) state wide break.

Every year, there is one particular day when it's like somebody throws a switch and all the frogs in the ponds across the street start croaking. That usually tells me to start sharpening hooks and re-spooling reels.. This year, it's telling me to go back to bed.

54 to 55 degree surface temps is when I start hooking into the bass more regularly. But like you said it varies year to year. I sure hope this ban is lifted May 4th, I'm taking the day off for fishing haha
