lake for 2 year old

Post by sickbayer » Mon Jun 06, 2016 5:08 pm

hey people, so I am thinking about getting my nipper out on a lake for a couple of hours with the Mrs too. I have a 20' open sled id like to find a lake that has some stockers in for excitement and maybe a small beach to land for brunch or lunch? I live in Kirkland so hoping to find a lake reasonably close by. any help is always appreciated.

The 20' sled and being close by are the tough criteria to meet. The first lake that comes to mind is Angle Lake. Probably the closest lake that you could launch your boat in a legally fish at this time.

Ya tough I know. I thought about Goodwin or Blackmans' lake.

I think either of those might work, don't know much about Blackmans. . You might look into Flowing lake too. Just a thought.

I'd look for bluegill or crappie or something like that before planter trout. They'll hit anything, aggressively. Even planter trout can be finicky and leave you skunked with a cranky kiddo. Mixed species lakes are a bonus since you can toss out a tiny jig for them to catch a bunch on and meanwhile you can attempt to catch something nicer in the meantime.

Launch would definitely work at Goodwin. The fishing right now is good, but a little tricky with the mass of pleasure boats out. The fish planted are planted as fry in the summer, put grow and take in October, and a few catchables in December, so they can be a little bit picky unlike lakes that are purely spring catchables that will hit on about anything. Quality fish though. Dragging trolling flies seems to work best. All fish I am catching there are loaded with flies.

Fishing is a non started and you know that. Just take the boat out for a spin and be done with it. Bring a patio umbrella so the can get out of the sun. And bring lots of treats and drinks for all concerned. Lake Samm or Lake WA, just go on a tour.

You'd better check the reg's on your boat, but Woodinville is close by and Cottage Lake was stocked heavily in April. It's a small lake but still a fun one to fish.

thanks for all the replies;

ya it is gman that's why I posted up I'm stumped, normally could just hit Sammamish but with it closed no point.

Josh Ive learned dragging wooly buggers pretty much works anywhere.

Ive fished blackmans lake, never been to flowing lake.

bodo I plan on going out before the misses comes out with the kid later in the morning (this is her idea) and yup I feed and nourish him plenty.

NWfly caster ...what do you mean better check the regs on my boat? are you trying to say I should check see if cottage lake is open to boats before I go? so you know I check the regs no matter where I go. Unlike some of the bass fisherman I've been seeing out on lake Washington lol . either way haven't been to cottage lake in 10 years and that was before I had a boat.

Try roseiger lake. Holds trout, kokanee, and spiny ray fish. Has a wdfw launch on the south end of thr lake and a counth park on the eastside of the south lake.
