Lake Washington Perch

Oh no...... another lake WA perch question. I really want to get out on lake WA this weekend for some cutthroat, but I am going threw one hell of a slump so I dont really want to limit myself to one species, just in case. So does anyone know about the panfish right now? I wouldnt mind getting in on a little bass action as well, hell carp, squawfish I need to catch some fish

Go to the mouth of the Cedar, locate the school of clutter (60-80') drop a worm and get ready. You'll get all kinds of strange fish...and perch, rainbow, cutthroat (if you're lucky), and crappie...they all like the mouth of the Cedar because it holds so much bait. Bait is key. I got a sucker there a week or two ago...it faught hard too...on a spoon, too.

IVE BEEN A TAD NORTH OF THE MOUTH OF THE CEDAR. DROPPING "CHROME SPOONS" WITH MEAT ATTACHED. ONCE YOU FIND THE "CLUTTER", STAY ON TOP OF THEM. PM SENT GPC.

NO COLOR BILL, EXCEPT FOR THE RED FLUTTER TAIL. I BELIEVE IT WAS YOU THAT SENT ME TO CABELA'S FOR THE HEAVIER ONES. THANKS. THEY HAD A WHOLE SECTION OF THEM, AND, I STOCKED UP!! THOSE HEAVIER ONES DEFINENTLY HELP WITH THE LARGER PERCH. I WAS SWORN TO SECRECY ABOUT THE ACTUAL LURE (THESE 2 GUYS ARE IN THIER 70'S), BUT, SINCE YOU ALREADY KNEW, IM CLEAR!ha! I WAS USING THE SMALLER ONES UNTIL YOUR POST, AND, WASNT DOING THAT WELL! THANKS AGAIN!

When I do my next perch trip I'll be experimenting with a hook or two tied above a heavy lure (previously known as a swedish pimple). I would think if someone had some scented rubber lures hooked ala dropshot style they could clean up on perch if the school was dense enough that all lures would have fish around them.

When the Perch are really biting heavy like in summer or fall you dont need much science to catch lots of them.I go hook a Bullhead and put its nice white meat on a hook and catch multiple perch on the one bait.

the few times i fish perch in lake wa every year I throw the multiple-hook dropshot at them. Doubles are fun!:cheers:

Yeah. I use the three hook set-up with hooks set up on three different parts of the leader. I tip each with perch meat and use this. It's great when you get into a larger school 11-13"ers and you reel up 3 at one time...it outfishes the sweedish pimple.

I used the pimple as a sinker (with a hook). I was out in October or so fishing 50+ feet deep with a half ounce pimple on braided line. When we were in the main part of the school all I felt was a bump,bump,bump as perch after perch it it. Most of the other schools I fished were stationary but this one swam around on the bottom. It was hard to stay on top of it...almost impossible.

When I fished Sammamish last summer we also had bass in the perch school and caught a couple of them. One time I thought I was hauling in a bass by the way the pole bent. It was two big perch. I had a trolling rod made out of a 5 wt flyrod blank and was using this time "dropshotting" with bait for perch.

I've marked schools of fish about 50' that look very perchish like, unfortunately I haven't caught any this year. They're not giving away the bass bites right now, you really need to fish for them, but try 30 to 40' in the east channel. They should be getting active pretty soon.

Get this, most of the clutter and fish suspended around the mouth of the Cedar are squaw fish...and other suckers. The cutts down that way are few and far between, but they are LARGE.

THE SUSPENDED FISH MAY BE SQAW'S, BUT, THE CLUTTER IS SCHOOLS OF PERCH OR THOSE LITTLE BAITFISH THEY ARE ALWAYS CHASING. I HAD TWO OLD-TIMERS SHOW ME HOW TO FIND THE CLUTTER, AND, TRY AND KEEP ON TOP OF THEM. I USED TO TROLL RIGHT THRU THE MOUTH OF THE CEDAR AREA, SEE THE CLUTTER , AND, MOVE ON. I NOW STOP TO INVESTIGATE THAT CLUTTER, AND, HAVE CUAHGT A LOT MORE PERCH THAN I USED TO. I STILL THINK THE BIGGER SCHOOLS WERE UP PAST MERCER ISLAND. GOING TO TRY IT WHEN I GET BACK FROM THE BIGHORN SHOW. IM DEFINENTLY GOING TO TRY KILLA'S THREE HOOK METHOD, DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF THOSE PIMPLES I LIKE TO USE. MAN, THAT IS ONE BIG LAKE. I WILL BE HERE IN THE YEAR 2015, AND, STILL BE MAPPING OUT SPOTS ON THIS LAKE! YIKES!
