Skeeters at Roosevelt

Post by duffy » Thu Sep 11, 2014 3:38 pm

Was planning a trip to the Spokane arm of Roosevelt (porcupine) and wondered if anyone had been there lately and if the skeeters were bad. Had heard on the news earlier that they were horrible at the campgrounds. I don't have much problem but my wife swells up bad. Thanks.

get one or 3 of those battery operated repelers. Any hardware store should have them. Maybe the picnic section of your grocery store. Clips to your belt for personal protection. I got my 'OFF Clip On' at Safeway in the picnic section. Be sure to get a couple/5 refills.

Shore can be bad, but the yellowjackets should be starting to back off. Out on the water the skeeters aren't bad. My wife has the same problem, and she uses a mosquito jacket when the wind is down and we go to shore. They aren't bad to wear. There's a lot of 'em available. http://www.campmor.com/Product___82170? ... pla&ci_kw=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also a hot spoon, like hot tap water hot, placed on the bite breaks down the reaction pretty well. The battery thing is good, but not proof, and just a bite or 2 can make my wife miserable. If you wait a couple of weeks they ought to really start diminishing, weather permitting.
