dimented mutant trout!!!!

Post by big fish lite line » Fri Aug 08, 2008 12:52 pm

I caught this about 2 months ago on heart lake fishing with powerbait
does anybody have an explanation?
I was thinking it could have been caused by the heat that they placed the triploid eggs under in order to make them trips

Wow! Looks like that guy ate another fish whole! What do they call it when they find a conjoined twin inside somebody's body? One twin absorbs the of the other? You hear some odd story in the news about it every once in a while.

Was there anything out of the ordinary when you cleaned this fish? Just built that way?

Saw one just like that tonight. A guy and two kids caught a limit and had one that shaped but bigger. What a trip. It looks like a Crappie/Trout, a Crout. Or a Humpy Trout.
Probably has to do with the hatching process. Just a mutation.

I have seen them before, even before they started to do trips, so it could just be a plain old mutated fish. About the early 70s, in a stream in Southern Idaho (no name spring to the best of my knowledge), we caught a couple like that.

Still, I have not seen one since, so you have a rare picture for sure.
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.

I caught one like that a couple years back, there was never any triploids planted in the lake.
This one was 11" long but from back bone to belly was 6" looked like a frisbe. Wish I had a
picture, I threw it back.

I just thawed out my all my trout and while soaking them in brine I found the two fat little fillets!
wound you eat them or should I just feed them to my dog.
