Stevens or Riffe?

Post by Lingking » Sat May 23, 2015 7:32 am

Had planned on going to Stevens on Monday but there has not been any real news on how the fishing has been since the derby. Considering going to Riffe (never been there) after seeing the reports on the Coho in there. Will be fishing solo and am not excited about the drive to Mossyrock especially since it will be Memorial day but i am not really interested in stevens for one or two fish. Opinions?

Strictly speaking fish-wise Riffe is the better bet for size and odds of catching limits.

If I could I would go to Riffe.

LOL...I am going to stevens in the morning with my son. We hung Sheetrock all day and deserve a break and want to try something new. I might hit up Riffe on Monday but the boy has to work at noon so not sure what the traffic will be but in the past its been busy on a three day weekend. Might have to go solo been a two years to have some of those coho from Riffe.

Someone did post a report I read on Stevens and they got the limits no problem the next day after the derby so there is still fish to be had. Good luck where ever the road takes you and stay safe.

Went to Stevens. Had to be home at a reasonable time. Went 0 for 1. Tons if boats but little action.

We went to Steven's and went 2 for 8 lost them at long releases. Was a very slow day started very fast and then we could not buy a bite. Hope next time out will do better. It was tough to watch the guide boats catch fish after fish around us.

I think the reason guide boats do so well is they can fish more rods (more people on the boat) and it makes the kokanee bite better. They are like the sea run versions and when there is more of a schooling effect with 8+ flashers in the water they bite. I only have a 12' boat and am solo 98% of the time and it just doesn't get the same results.

I agree with Lingking, I believe there is something to having more rods out, it increases odds and gets your presentation to different depths.

I understand the logic trust me, but I have run a 14ft with two poles and out fished some guys on American lake and also have see some guys on the same boat use the same gear and one gets them and the other don't. No worries we will hit hard again next time, I try hard to keep a positive attitude am much as one can. My son is already to go back and give it another try, he was sick the day we went and I was sick the next day something bad....24 hr bug so feeling great today!

Might have to try something extra next time and get my kid to buy his two pole endorsement so he can fish two poles. I watched a video today where they were using two flashers in a row something to ponder. Thanks guys!

I usually run 1 dodgers in tandem with about 12" leader between them, something I picked up from General Herzog. it works
