I guess I gotta cough up on this one too. Not in order as my go to fave changes on a regular basis.
Wedding rings, all types W/ pop gear, all types, tipped and not.
Needle fish, Fire Tiger, Perch, RBT, gold and silver.
Buggers, olive, black, white, red, tan, brown, chartreuse, and flashabo. with these I need to group small marabou jigs.
Sorry three's not enough, ever.
Chrome F4&5 flatfish, little hotshots in no particular color and Rapalas. Lets just call'em cranks.
Mepps, no tackle box should be carried with out them.
Red Devils
One lure that's not a lure but it is a lure. The one and only worm...

Yep don't use them very often anymore. To some they're the Holy Grail, to me, just something else to drag behind the boat. =)Chromer wrote:my local tackle shop sells them, but for 7 bucks a pop

Can't say I've ever used a Thomas Buoyant but I have caught quite a few on super dupers when I was a kid. Lots of casting into rivers......Chromer wrote:haha true. Anyone have success with Thomas Buoyant or Super Dupers?

I've heard Thomas Buoyant are trout murderers, so i picked one up. Many people swear by them.

Thanks, yeah, they did start out in New Zealand by an Australian maker. Going to have to try some this year. Also, I think I need to print this all out and go shopping!!
Re: Your Top 3 Lures for Trout (lakes)
Does anyone else throw various spoons? If i'm not trolling, I think this method works awesome. Kastmasters are really hard to beat.
Re: Your Top 3 Lures for Trout (lakes)
If you are looking to cast gear for trout, don't forget about the Water Bubble/Water Float. Put your favorite fly or light weight spoon or spinner a few feet behind one, fill it with water and let it rip. Especially useful on alpine lakes when you want to get some distance on your casts.
Re: Your Top 3 Lures for Trout (lakes)
Very true. Works great with flys
Re: Your Top 3 Lures for Trout (lakes)
Cow bell, kastmaster and rapalas.
Re: Your Top 3 Lures for Trout (lakes)
There's a "knock off" of the kastmaster called the Johnson Splinter. It's the same shape, with better hooks, for a dollar or so less money.
