Hi Muskie Fans:
Send some congrats to Mike Floyd for his winning muskie at the Chapter 57 Tournament on May 30, 2009.
She measured in at 44.5 inches in length and 20 inches in girth. Fish was released unharmed to make some other angler happy down the road. WTG, Mike!

The next picture is Dan's 43 x 20 caught on a bucktail.
Followed by Buddy's 40 incher. (C & R the day before the T.)#-o
This was the TIGER PAC's first Tournament of the Year and it was great to see all the old smiling faces. Did I say old?:-"
Last picture shows President Buddy presenting Mike with the winning plaque.
Zoom in on the plaque and you will see that we borrowed an idea from Jim Owens and the C.A.S.T. for kids Events:
Instant personalized plaque!
LOL Curlew may not have cell phone service or TV, but the laptop and the printer worked just fine!

That lake is such a blast; always good times, even if the fish are stubborn, they are so amazing to see!

Great job guys... I glad to see that someone figured out that lake. I felt like I was on a Musky site seeing event. Oh well, I'm waiting for my next chance at Mayfield on June 27. I know that lake holds some real wonders.

See you there gang

Mike Floyd sent the owner of savage gear lures a pic of the fish from Curlew that
he caught on one of his lures and he posted it on the front of their
site. Thought you'd all like to see it. WTG, Mike.

13cm Savage gear lipped 4 play in Rainbow trout. Had a lot of follows on that lure tournament day, I believe I counted 8. Mike.

Teeth.................LOT'S OF SHARP TEETH!!!! Wire leaders or heavy flourocarbon leaders are the only way to go. Personally, I like the flourocarbon leaders because they don't kink up so bad. I use 80# Pro-Line and a 125# Charlie's leader most of the time. I have started making my own leaders over the last year and have had great success with them. If you are just looking for something to do with your hands, while your watching Oprah (because your wife has 60 episodes recorded on your DVR and there is no space left for recording any fishing shows), you can make them for about $1 each and save some serious money. Use only great quality ball-bearing swivels and make up a variety of lengths to start with. After you decide how long you like them, for each type of bait that you are throwing, you can make about 20 leaders in an hour. This would last the average musky fisherman about 3 years, but I have found that when I fish with my wife, it's easier to cut her line and leave them behind than to climb another tree every half hour to retrieve one! Oh well, gotta run...........Oprah's on!

I bought one a couple years ago and the lure is so flimsy I have been afraid to try it for musky. I have caught a bass or two on it.

They can handle a Musky no problem. They catch giant Pike in Europe with them all the time with no problems. Other than a few tooth marks the lure is just like new. Mike.
