I'm from Northern Wisconsin and have been out here for 2 years and haven't gone fishing ONCE. I'm looking on here for anyone willing to take me up to Merwin or the other ones in the area for some tiger chasing this fall....(OR EVER!!!) I haven't been with a guide ever in my life except up on Eagle Lake in Ontario. We needed him to get us to Niven/Osborne bays :P
If anyone is willing to contact me please do! I live in Battle Ground

I haven't fished Merwin in a couple years, but I plan to this year. (I also fish Mayfield occasionally.) My boat is a Tuffy Esox Magnum, which can accommodate 3 anglers. I have 2 fishing buddies in the Merwin area, but they're not getting along right now, so I have to fish with them separately, which means I'll usually have room for a guest. I normally fish Merwin in July-August-September. I assume you have a car and can drive yourself to Merwin?

We will most likely be down in Tigard closer to her job come August and we share one vehicle. However yes I'd make my own way there! I don't have any of my tackle out here though...that's the rough part. It's all sitting in the cabin basement back home

Tackle isn't a problem, I have enough tackle for 3 people. All you'd need is a fishing license, clothing suitable for the weather, and a way to get yourself there.

Hi Andy, I don't know if you received my PM, but you can contact me directly at
dwitt546@aol.com. Put "Merwin fishing" in the subject line so I know it isn't spam. My boat won't be ready before early July. It has to go into the shop for service and they're pretty busy this time of year, but I'm working on getting everything ready.

Update: It takes weeks to get a marine shop appointment in the Seattle area, so my boat goes in for service on Aug. 3, not sure when I'll get it back, but I should be ready to start fishing by mid-August. If you're still interested in fishing with us, give a shout in about a week or so.

Hello Andy, I've tried to PM you, but don't know if the messages went through. Are you still interested in fishing with us? I'm shooting for the weekend of Aug. 14-16, after which I'll be at Merwin on-and-off through the end of September.
Update (posted Aug. 12): I plan to fish Merwin from Aug. 19 - 24, and Mayfield Aug. 25 - 28, and back to Merwin in September, except I have commitments in Seattle during the week of Sept. 9-16. I haven't heard from you, Andy, so unless I do, I'll assume you're not interested in fishing with us or have made other arrangements.

If you still want to try and do something this fall, I'm planning to return to Merwin this month. For tiger muskies, the next three weeks should be the best fishing of the year, and we may have the entire lake to ourselves. I'm in Seattle right now, hoping to wrap up my business here this week, but as of tonight not exactly sure yet when I'll leave for the lake. Once I'm there, all you'd have to do is bring yourself, clothing appropriate for the weather, and a fishing license, and meet Mike and me at the boat launch. He's a local resident, and I stay at his cabin in the woods, which has cooking and sleeping facilities, and wood stove heat, but of course any overnight stay at his place would require his invitation. Alternatively, for anything longer than a day trip, there's the Lone Fir Motel in the nearby town of Cougar, which probably requires advance reservations as it fills up with hunters this time of year. If you prefer to wait until next year, I'll probably still be around unless I drop dead over the winter. (I run with a geriatric crowd, and I'm no spring chicken myself. We're old guys, on wobbly legs, even if not quite our last legs. Our acquaintances understand that all of our alcohol consumption and other substance abuse is solely for medicinal and therapeutic purposes.)
