Pink Salmon Run

Post by natenez » Wed Mar 04, 2009 11:52 am

I read today about the estimated pink salmon return this year. However the articles don't mention what time of year the different species will arrive.

Does anyone have a guess as to when the pinks will be in the Snohomish & Skagit rivers?

Thanks

keep the pinks away from boat carpet as pinks bleed real easy. Carpet starts to stink after a full weekend of pinking.

They'll be in the straights in July, start showing in good numbers in the Puget Sound in early August, with numbers peaking in mid/late August....

They'll be in the Snohomish from mid August thru mid September....

Late August is usually the best time to target em...

Fish will be in the Snohomish when it opens in August....They will be in there good until mid September...

Get some pink and some chartruese jigs (green works real well believe it or not) and pitch those out into slow water stretches of the Snohomish. Fish the bottom 1/3rd of the water column and "twitch" the jigs back into you after you cast them out...1/4 oz jigs...No need for huge lures in rivers..Smaller the better in my opinion...

Dick nites (50/50 and Pink) also work well, cast/slow retrieve in the same water.

Fish where there are fish. Pinks will roll and splash, so you'll know when they are in....
