RE:BOOT OF THE YEAR
I dont think its possible to beat that boot. O_o
~Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.
~My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

RE:BOOT OF THE YEAR
Right behind the torn gills it looks like a pipe jig hanging there. I'll bet just about anything that guy snagged that fish.

rac, I'm guessing that's a pectoral fin.racfish wrote:Right behind the torn gills it looks like a pipe jig hanging there. I'll bet just about anything that guy snagged that fish.
RE:BOOT OF THE YEAR
Here is a Sky river kelt from earlier this year:
and... sadly... the worst boot I ever kept although it does look especially terrible in this pic from being on ice for over an hour. About 5 years ago and not at the "height" of my river carrier, lol! Needless to say, sorry I ever gave it the wooden shampoo. DOH!
How come nobody else has posted any boot pictures? Too much pride I suppose..... Hahaha

RE:BOOT OF THE YEAR
Oh I'll be posting up some boots. I'm won't be keeping any, but I'll run into my fair share. I already have, but having issues loading the pic up. I have boots from years past as well, but the topic is for this year.
Ok, caught this boot 8/25/10 - it tried to eat my corky

RE:BOOT OF THE YEAR
Just a term used for a salmon that is nearing the end of it's life cycle. I suppose looking at the reader fishing definition list, I see the term boot listed as a dark salmon/steelhead. I'd go a step or two further and include the term pre-spawn. So a dark, pre-spawn, salmon or steelhead would be a boot. Once a salmon has spawned and is on it's last legs, they are usually referred to as "zombies". A post spawn steelhead/trout is usually referred to as a "kelt", they can survive the spawning ordeal and brighten back up after heading downstream.
