Re: Skook Lately?
Reason for the pic it was 16lbs. Yes it's a darker fish. A lot of chrome today though.

Re: Skook Lately?
There's fish to be had, if you know how to hook them (I don't, apparently. lol ) Seen plenty of fish rolling the last few weeks, and had plenty of hookups in the short fishing days I've had recently (later afternoons, or yesterday for 2 hours for example). Also seen fish coming out, not tons of them, but people are catching. Some chrome, some colored, some boots.
Really itching to get at least one more metalhead to the bank this season. I've only caught 1. Ever. And that was a few months ago on the Cow. Can't complain catching just 1 my first year on the rivers (heard some go a couple years or more striving for that first landed steelie) but I want a second one just because 1 is never enough.
All this time I've spent trying to hook steel and I'm the one that got 'hooked'

Re: Skook Lately?
We got nine fish to the bank yesterday! Man it was good, the water brought some chrome even. Then hen we pulled out even had nice tight skeins! Pics will come Monday or tuesday, I've got no way of uploading them on the road right now. Played with a nice big dark buck that snapped that was probably pushing 19-20. Lots of fish there too. LOTS.luisdabeast206 wrote: Kick ass boat bro saw it in person yesterday! Water was high at the skook and dropping yesterday there was some pulled but it wasn't "hot" atleast in the section we were.

There are some achievements which are never done in the presence of those who hear of them. Catching salmon is one, and working all night is another.

HAahahaha Brat told me that works in that river !
Re: Skook Lately?
Powerbait? Will have to try that. I was at the skook on Sat, no luck on eggs or prawns. Fun day though, lots of fish in the river. Rippers were having a field day. Did see snagged fish put back though which was somewhat refreshing to see. Will try again on wed.

Re: Skook Lately?
yeah powerbait power eggs, worms, skook fish are wierd.
Re: Skook Lately?
I read an article a little while ago in I think northwest sportsman about powerbait(firebait) for steelhead. I don't know why it wouldn't work, since rainbows and steelhead are basically the same fish.jd39 wrote:Powerbait? Will have to try that. I was at the skook on Sat, no luck on eggs or prawns. because it is hard to use and stay on the hook in faster currentsDan Boone wrote:I read an article a little while ago in I think northwest sportsman about powerbait(firebait) for steelhead. I don't know why it wouldn't work, since rainbows and steelhead are basically the same fish.
Re: Skook Lately?
Well now I'm wavering, Skook for steel tomorrow or American for a shot at kokanee and about an hr off the drive......tough choice.Brat Bonker wrote:because it is hard to use and stay on the hook in faster currentsDan Boone wrote:I read an article a little while ago in I think northwest sportsman about powerbait(firebait) for steelhead. Will make it tonight b/c if I go to the Skook I want to roll some powerbait/firebait into balls and try to dry them out a little before using tomorrow, maybe they'll stay on the hook better like that.

Re: Skook Lately?
Hope you have better luck than I did today. Bounced around all over up by the hatchery, until I found some fish.
Staring at a group of at LEAST 10 fish, some chrome, some dark, and they weren't biting ANYTHING I threw at them. Hit one right in the face with a jig and it didn't even budge.
Eggs, prawns, about 15 different jigs, cured coon shrimp, cured sandshrimp (both left by the guy next to me, that caught his limit in 30 minutes) pink worms, yarn balls in different colors, power eggs, ez eggs, corkies, corkies and yarn, red beads, orange beads, spoons, spinners, drfiting, bobber dogging, heck even a couple of rags; nothing, nada, zip.
Starting to think Nate wasn't really joking when he said I was bad luck.
