Yep there legal now, its debateable wether it will improve or decrease your catch... Certainly could catch a steelie on them, if they were attached to the right lure, GL!

I'd suggest fishing with single hooks still. Treble hooks will really rip a fishes mouth if you hook into them and they are a lot easier to lose fish on then if you properly play a fish with a single hook. Plus your going to snag up a lot more fishing treble hooks...

I too will also just about always fish with single hooks. The not only are trebles damaging to fish that need to be released like Sam said, they require a harder hookset which can be missed on a quick bite, and also, if two points are driven into the fishes mouth, they actually work against eachother as fulcrums or leverage points. Each point will work the other out until you lose the fish.

Yep, use all the trebles you want, its legal. If you feel more comfortable with them, might as well take advatge of it because you cant do it any other time of the year. Watch out for them snags, I get too much with only 1 hook let alone 3 lol. 253, your a joke

btw went for steelhead on the puallyup/carbon last weekend only got about a 10lb chum no steelys.

Why such a big hook?

Because it hooks the fish real good.
And for steelhead it is necessary in order to get a good hook set because steelhead have such tough mouths.

5/0 is WAY overkill for steelies...

That is only for lures, for bait fishing size 2 is what I use.
