Alabama Rigging
I came across the following video on Youtube of Umbrella/ Alabama rigging. I guess I am new to the concept. While the guy in the video is fishing with five plastic bags, he is also from another state. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeBNKqOknsk
This got me pondering whether Alabama Rigging is legal in Washington, and it is legal to have three three different baits attached to. So my question is, what is your guys' take on this way of rigging? Do you consider it "cheating" in terms of traditional one hook per line bass fishing; Or, do you consider it just a new advantage to increase chances in terms of bass fishing. I'm really curious about your opinions. I guess I have been living under a rock, as I just tumbled across Alabama Rigging.
Thanks,
Joe

Re: Alabama Rigging
I think it's cheating, doesn't mean that I won't try it some day. lol
Here in Wa. we are limited to 3 HOOKS per lure. The whole rig is a lure, therefor 3 hooks max. You can use blades on any wires that are left over.

If the thing is legal than there should be no moral issue with using it. I got one I tried a couple years ago. Do not like it and it just hangs from my garage wall now. I used five 1/8th oz. jig heads and 5 Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper baits when I tried it and snipped off the hooks, at the bend, on the top two jig heads. I may dust it off and try it on Riffe at some point. The smaller lakes around here are tough with all the weeds and grass.
In the south, they are now tying an Alabama Rig behind another Alabama Rig, lol. So if that is cheating, and it started in Alabama, I am thinking Nick Saban had a hand in it

Holly crap talk about some serious Weight and drag threw the water, sounds like they might as well be trolling it. Using one heck of a meat stick, aye?
60.00 rigg , I'd have my shorts on ready to go for a swim.
That just ain't fishing. Cheatin'

Re: Alabama Rigging
Seems like most of them would be a little much for Kokanee but you could customize it to smaller baits and maybe a smaller umbrella with longer wires and it might be killer. Shoot maybe even LakeTrout way down deep. No doubt it would kill the Humpies out in Salt. What an idea Zack, think you might be onto the next new thing. #MatchTheHatchSteelheadin360 wrote:Wonder if this would work for kokanee... Or humpies!

Yup, it is cheating, but I got my first umbrella/alabama rig fish today. Only 2.73 Smallie, but it counts. It's also my first swimbait fish.
