just found this site been stationed here in wa. for a little over a month. can anyone tell me if the trout stock earlier this year in cranberry lake killed off everything but the planted trout? this seems far fetched to me but strange things happen. also looking for a good panfish lake or pond to take my kids to once school is out. hopefully it will be some where around island, skagit, whatcom counties. any info will be appreciated.
thanks,
dingo

This should have probably gone in the freshwater forum (for future reference). Welcomce to the forum!
I live in Bellingham and do a bit of fishing in Padden, Fazon, and Samish. All of these lakes are great for panfish, Fazon has large Bluegills, and some Perch, and a solid bass population (also supposedly there's channel cat's, and cutties in there too). Fazon is inaccessible from shore, but if you have a boat I would recommend trying the bluegill fishing. Next is Lake Padden. Padden is full of perch, you can catch them from the public access dock near the boat lauch. Use a slip bobber, 4-6" off the bottom and just pitch it as far straight out as possible, then get ready! If you have a boat, even better, focus on the fallen trees along the shore opposite the boat launch. Samish offers all of the above, and has large bass, kokanee, and lots of trout to be caught.
Of the three, I would say that either Fazon or Padden are your best bet for Panfish with the kiddies.
Tight lines, and again, Welcome!
