Post by Rizzla » Mon May 07, 2007 11:22 am

i cant seem to figure out lake washington bass. either the lake too big and fishing all the wrong spots or my bait selection is wrong. need some artifical bait suggestions. crank, plastic worms or grubs, top water, anything helps and please be specific on the color.

I catch some niced sized bass on accident when fishing for perch. I use between a 1/64 oz - 1/16 oz jig tipped with worm so maybe you need to go small:-k

Grubs and lizards in browns and greens work well. White spinnerbaits and any crankbait with a blue back and chrome sides are good too. Right now the largemouths are spawning and are on beds. Anyplace with early weed growth and wood is holding them right now. The smallmouths are out on the points and the edges of any rocky flats you can find. Some are up on the banks spawning now as well. Also anyplace where the water drops quickly from the bank to at least 10 feet and has rocks is holding them too. Just work the plastics slow along the rocks and you'll pick up some fish. Right now they are in very particular areas and spawning are or preparing to spawn. You'll have to find these areas to catch fish right now. In about three more weeks some of the bass will have finished spawning and will start to spread out into other areas of the lake and feed. They'll be easier to locate then.

The crappie bite is getting pretty hot out there. I'll post a report with pics this weekend. We'll be out there on Saturday trying to fill a stringer.

Hey Crappie King,

Don't be surprised if you see a white fiberform following your smokercraft..... No, I'm just kidding. But I would love to go hit up the washing machine sometime so you could take me to school. Your avatar says it all, man those are some hawgs!

Sure, I'll give you some GPS coordinates. Right after we weight-in at the tournament on the 9th Image.

There's an open tourney this weekend on Wa. There should be about 120 bassboats out there. I'm not sure how you guys fish when there's a tourney going on. Just wanted to give you a heads up that you might want to launch out before 6am and get setup on your honeyhole. Here's a link to the list of tournies this season: http://wdfw.wa.gov/fish/contests/2007contests.htm
