help please---- Wallula Lake

Post by sgpwayne » Sun May 27, 2012 2:10 pm

I am considering fishing Wallula Lake the first week of August. I have never fished the area before and I am looking for any information. What would you consider the better area, Pasco and Snake River area or the area down by Hermiston. Does anybody know of any resorts in the area ????? Thanks in advance WAYNE

A lot is going to depend on what the water level is like when you are there. I always had a lot of luck on the north bank between Pasco and the slough area near the paper plant/Badger Island area and never went much further than. There was also some good fishing around the rock piles at the train bridges east of Pasco. There are also some sloughs you can get into on the South bank near the big chemical tanks(in the Findley area & hard to miss them) and the area the locals call "Hover Park" on the South bank East of the chemical tanks and around the pilings where they moor the barges. I never went much past the sloughs near Badger Island. I've also had good luck on the Snake if there is enough flow, but IMHO anything on the Snake closer to Ice Harbor than the Burbank Heights area is a waste of time. Stay away from the Columbia park area (between the Green & Cable bridges) as the boat traffic in that area is really high with jet skis and the like. The fishing can be really hot around the junction between the Yakima and Columbia in Richland and you wont see a lot of competition from other anglers in this area either. Carolina plastics or flipped jigs with a plastic trailer along the banks can be the ticket if the bite is on.
