Re: Rufus Woods Tournament

Thanks, the prizes awarded was not provided on their newsletter. However I didn't notice who won the loaded fishing boat valued at 40,000. I read about it on the Colville Res. website, Vol. 4. newsletter. I'm looking forward to it either way, boat or not.

Rufus Woods Tournament

It's been a few years since I hit Rufus and stumbled on this tournament in May for Trips that I would like to involve myself in. For 40k worth of boat it's worth a trip! Anyone have the results from last year?

Re: Need some pointers for Salmon in Tri-Cities

Ringold area and Umatilla are pretty close and look to be the best prospects, I've seen people catch steelhead while I was sturgeon fishing at the bridge below Mcnary dam. From what I see on their website, salmon/steelhead will open on the 16th of June so that will be a good time to bring her up. I ...

Re: Non Level Wind question

I do like that they carry a lefty in almost each model. I would imagine that braid would not lay down as evenly as mono. Once I get used to thumbing line in I would like it very much. Thanks for all the input guys

Re: Non Level Wind question

I was looking at those today actually, I wish they were still made in USA. Regardless I think that would be a good choice.

Re: Non Level Wind question

Are any of these reels mentioned left handed? I'm putting it on a lamiglas 7050 lb rod.. Can't wait to try it out. Sturgeon should be re-opening soon below the dalles

Re: Non Level Wind question

Thanks. I had a feeling they would be a slight overkill for what I would use it for, I will stick with a level wind.

Non Level Wind question

I'm looking to purchase a Saltwater reel in the $200-$500 rangeto use for Ling/Halibut/Sturgeon.. I'm not familiar with the reels that do not have a level wind retrieve system, do they wind themselves evenly on the spool just by reeling or is there some trick to this? I would prefer a Left handed mo...

Need some pointers for Salmon in Tri-Cities

Next week I'll be starting a job in Kennewick, lasting a month or so and would like to do some Salmon/Steelhead/Sturgeon fishing but there are so many options I wouldn't know where to begin. I have a well equiped 18ft Hewescraft SeaRunner and 14ft Hewescraft RiverRunner to play with. I've been Sturg...

Looking to Smoke a Blue Marlin..

My friend just got back from Hawaii and caught a 450lb Blue Marlin and brought me about 40lb of this beautiful meat, the locals said the best way to eat it was smoked. So has anyone has done this and how did it turn out? I smoke a lot of Salmon and it turns out great so I would think the same recipe...

Re: Plexiglass/acrylic curved windshiled replacement

It's good to have options, when the money comes in I will be looking in those directions. They fit that nicely I must say. Thanks for the recommendations.

Re: Plexiglass/acrylic curved windshiled replacement

I like your top, I need to get one made for a 80's hewescraft river runner with curved windshield like yours. How much did that one set you back?

Re: Can you tell me what this wire is for?

That makes sense considering they are all connected to each other and all the other Anodes look like a harder metal than the one that's being affected. Thanks

Re: Using Downriggers, Vibration Noise

Agreed.. At large depths I have had to drop the DR ball to the bottom and adjust the counter to that depth and go from there. On my FF display the DR ball will go a few feet past the bottom depth before it actually hits the bottom but it's pretty darn close.

Re: Using Downriggers, Vibration Noise

The only way I can see to compensate for the loss of length to counter ratio is to add a backing on your spool then your braid. This should add enough ratio to compensate for the diameter of the wire. Example: half of a spool of wire line should equal to about a 3/4 of a spool of braid in relation t...

Re: Humminbird Fishfinder 597ci Hd Di Combo - Down Imaging C

I purchased this unit a year ago and I am pleased with the overall capabilities. The GPS saved me more than once in dense fog on the pacific coast. I have yet to experience any visuals such as a shipwreck but I can usually distinguish between stumps from fish using the down-imaging. All fish finders...

Re: Using Downriggers, Vibration Noise

If I didn't use electric DR's I would switch over myself... Cannon Mag10's have Positive Ion Control, yet it needs to be checked to make sure it's within the limits allowed to attract fish. Every boat is different. Also the electric retrieve does not stop at the water surface with braid. If you have...

Re: Can you tell me what this wire is for?

I unscrewed the zerk bolt and replaced the U connecter to the wire and everything looks to be in working order... I appreciate all the feedback. Now MarkFromSea brought up the fact of using Clean Zincs in saltwater, that clicked in my head so I had to go look at my boat again... When exactly should ...

Re: Can you tell me what this wire is for?

That was my guess as well but I can't think of anything that would require electricity down there... It will have to be fixed before the weekends derby, but it would be nice to know more about this.
