Re: Anybody fish Thompson Lake anymore?
Yeah, I think a lot of people drive by and think it's a bay, or puddle. Used to have a lot of stunted bass in the 12" range, with some trout. If you go other than cold weather, that place is full of rattlers, so watch it.

Anybody fish Thompson Lake anymore?
Thomposon Lake, a small lake on Steamboat Rock, surrounded by Banks Lake, used to have abundant Largemouth Bass and large Rainbows. It's been decades since I've fished it. Wondered if anyone still fished it.

Re: What is considered a "big" or "trophy" crappie?
Between me and the Jigmeister (recently passed on), we considered 2 lbs a good fish, 3 a bragging fish, and above 4 a trophy. There were very few years we didn't have at least a few in the 3+ and a couple in the 4+ range, but he was one of the best I've seen, and I've been lucky/blessed to learn fro...

Re: Long time member Tje Jigmeister passes.
What makes an ideal fishing partner, or best friend? A trillion variables, each differing by the needs and wants of the viewer, but I’ll describe the one that just got away, and went home. Someone with a sense of humor that complements your own. In any relationship, that will be a key ingredient, an...

Long time member Tje Jigmeister passes.
For those of you who remember, because it's been a while, "Jiggy" David Gerhauser has passed. They will pull life support Thursday, but there is no brain activity. I know a few of us have had the fun privilege of fishing with him, including Mike, so just letting people know, he's going after the cra...

Re: Ice Reports 2016-2017
Open year round. Shore fishing is somewhat limited, but small boats with electric motors or oars are find. Lots of stumps, trees, pads.

Re: Ice Reports 2016-2017
If you like Rock and Warmouth bass, Kapowsin is a great little lake for Rock bass, with no ice. Bobber rigs for kids. Just remember to park where you can see the rig. Lots of break-ins spoil an otherwise mini-paradise for bass.

Re: Ice Reports 2016-2017
Yakima area ice getting rotten. I have had 4" of ice on my driveway for over a month now, and still do, but it is getting melt honeycombed. Ice on the water may not be as quick to melt, but it has been warmer, and ice that is less clear is beginning to depart. Be careful.we don't have these...https:...

3 days ago it was 7". We've had some warmer weather though. Call Coulee Playland for daily conditions, they are usally helpful. 509 633 2671

Re: Ice Reports 2016-2017
Saw a couple of fisherfolk out a couple of days ago. Didn't see anything on the ice with them. With the warm wind I would advise caution, but the nights are still cold. I'd fish in the AM if I did try it. And I'm sure you know special regs... yada yada...

Re: Ice Reports 2016-2017
Last weekend a guy told me there was 7" of ice on Roses, but he didn't stay long and only caught a couple. He was a bit vague on how long he stayed. That's all I've heard about it, but it should be colder than the seep lakes, and they still have good ice.

WEnt to Soda Lake, and there was about 6" of ice. Quite a few fisherfolks but only 2 fish caught from dawn to almost dusk. Good people, but no fish biting. Even Mardon said there wasn't any good fishing around.

Re: Ice Reports 2016-2017
Just got done fishing Myron pond, buddy caught a trout in 20 minutes. Moved around to a couple holes and finally found a school of perch and caught 2 in ten minutes. I was still getting bites and the cop pulls over on the highway to tell us to get off the ice... spots we checked and fished had a go...

Re: Ice Reports 2016-2017
Saw someone on Myron, no idea the thickness. Lower valley tends to be warmer, but haven't been by. Elton had a bunch of people on it last time I went by. You can use a knife or scissors to cut a 2 liter bottle into a scoop, just use a 3/8" drill to make plenty of holes.

Re: Ice Reports 2016-2017
Usually lots of folks that will let you borrow one for a couple of holes. Take a perforated ladle or even a sieve to keep the ice clear. Pocket warmers and something like a rug or plywood to stand on helps with the cold. Don't know how old your son is, but the younger ones enjoy it a lot more if the...

Re: Ice Reports 2016-2017
Oh, and the ice was at least 6" in most places, while the North end of Banks just barely iced up the a few days ago. Remember if you go, the Ice thins where there is current, as in under the I-90 bridge at Moses. Don't risk your life or the lives of your would be rescuers. Test carefully if you go w...
