Re: Best camping/fishing location in Washington?

I'll second Fish Lk (Lk Wenatchee) There's good dispersed (free) camping with a bathroom and car topper boat launch on the N. side of the lake off the Chiwawa Valley Rd. (FS 62) Seep Lks area near Othello would be up there on my list for best fishing area. Lots a free camping, bathrooms at some of t...

Re: Bike-in lake ?

Lk Fontal brings back lots a memories. Fished and hunted that area a lot in my high school years. It was a big partyville lake back in the 70's when you could drive to it. Always had a huge opening day crowd. Fished and camped several opening day weekends and the road was always a disaster. Huge pud...

Re: Bike-in lake ?

There are dozens of lakes/ponds behind gates between N. Bend-Hwy 2. Grab a good TOPO map (Bing, Google Earth) and start exploring. If you google Spur 10 gate, you will have the main access on the S. end. Hancock controls a portion of the area, so you may have to buy a permit now even if you walk/bik...

Re: Camping/Fishing at lake Takhlakh

There's lots a great dispersed (free) camping in the area. Several nice spots very close at next door Ollalie Lk. Good fishing there too. HooDoo runs many of the FS campgrounds down that way at jacked up rates. IMHO, it's flat out theft of public resources that the Forest Service allows. Nearby Coun...

Re: Burke vs Quincy Lake

Both lakes receive a large amount of fry and catchables each year. In the past I always found that Quincy Lk fishes better than Burke, but since they've started the fishing derby 3 years ago I've turned my attention more to Burke. If the wind is blowing like it so often does, you can get out of the ...

Re: Weekend Trout Lake Recommendations?

Flowing would be the better choice. I haven't seen too many fishing though, so it's a bit early. WDFW starts stocking in March, so it should pick up. There's a free dock and parking at the east public access off Storm Lk road. The park at the W end of the lake charges $7.00 now. I stopped by there o...

Thanks for all the info. on ice and good news on the gate. Long range forecast shows it warming up by the end of the week, 63 by Friday, so that's almost summer time weather....:)

Re: Park Permits---Which Ones??

They've made the Discover Pass as complicated as possible, so most people throw their hands up in frustration. I'm always checking passes at trailheads and parking areas and you see every form of pass thrown up on the mirror or dash. 84% of the Discover Pass money goes to State Parks, 8% to WDFW and...

Re: Quincy lakes, march 2013 opener

Zen, were all the lakes thawed out and no ice? I may head over a couple days early, so would think all the gates would be open in the next few days. I have a geocache in there that someone reported a find today, so maybe the gates opened late today?

Re: March 1st eastern WA lakes fish stock reporst

I wonder how they are going to handle the opener at Burke? It opens on Friday and the fishing derby is the next day. Doesn't sound too productive having the fish stocked right before the derby starts. Maybe they'll have an emergency closure for Friday? Might be tough enforcing that as Burke is such ...

Re: trouble with PM's via smartphone

Thanks for the update. I thought it might be a browser problem for me, but have tried various other browsers (Chrome, IE) and same deal. I'm using Firefox on laptop and PC. Never occurred to me it was my phone (HTC Inspire) till I saw your post. I can get to the Latest Reports page, but it won't loa...

Re: trouble with PM's via smartphone

Was there a fix to this problem? I'm having similar issues. I can bring up the latest reports page, but all the image links are broken on the far left of the page and nothing will open up. I'm using a droid smart phone on my laptop and PC, Win.7 64 bit on both PC's for internet. I had a private mess...

Yes, I saw what type of gear you were using. I've always had mask, snorkel, fins along on my camping/fishing trips. All the places I mentioned would be fine for free diving. Amazing what you can find out there under water!....:) I heard about Banks, but haven't been over there this year. Barker Flat...

RE:Spearfishing Carp in Eastern WA?

Hey that's great you are out exploring the water world that most don't see. It's great way to learn about fish that will educate you far more than surface fishing. Potholes Res. has many areas that hold carp. The N side off M Rd across from the Dam is thick with carp. May-June when the lake level st...

RE:Banks Lake - Walleye on the Barker flats?

Barker Flats is an excellent area for eyes. You'll need to work the edges where it drops off. That can be a long way out in the middle of the lake, so really watch the wind. Check out Google Maps and you can see where the deeper water drops off. That was a big help for me. First week of May is a bit...

RE:...wow.

I'd much rather see new people out fishing the opening weekend than forcing them to buy a year long license. All this rule does is discourage people from getting out opening weekend and perhaps becoming interested in the outdoors. If you look at how much the State is losing in revenue by all the nic...

RE:Fish Lake near Wenatchee

You'll do well trolling flies and flat fish. The wind usually starts up about 10-11am. People do well drift fishing with the wind. Ice just went off last week and large browns will move into the shallow water to feed. The N. side of the lake is good early on. I was going to try and make it over ther...

RE:MANCATION!

Looks like you may have already made up your mind, but my suggestion would be the N. End of Banks Lake. There's plenty of free camping and RV pay camping. Steamboat Rock, Coulee Playground. You're a 30 min drive to the N. end of Rufus Woods and a 10 min drive to Lk Roselvelt You have Banks Lake at y...

RE:Wenatchee Area

Rufus Woods would be your best choice for big fish. The Quincy WRA lakes opened March 1st and have plenty of fish. Dusty Lk is a pretty lake to walk into. If you're looking for an out of the way lake without a crowd of people. Rat Lk near Brewster should be ice free and some decent fish. It was kill...

Yes, it's true! Not only fishing, but hunting will be banned too. :clown:
