Re: Challenging Myself to Catch'em All

Thanks guys! This makes sense now. I didn't understand why I wasn't catching anything and thought perhaps I was going about it all wrong. I finally managed to catch my first trout on a mepps UV lure just a few days ago. I believe it was a rainbow. I tried to keep the damage minimal and returned it t...

Re: Challenging Myself to Catch'em All

Thanks for the reply Honestly I'm kind of dumbfounded because he was right to an extent, lately I've only been managing to catch LMB in Green Lake, looking at the reports it should be very productive with trout. I even seen them in schools swimming along and sometimes chasing after my jigs or rapala...

Re: Challenging Myself to Catch'em All

Thanks for the clarification guys, makes sense now. I'm kind of in a weird position right now. Back in NY, I've caught trout that was stocked using floats and other bass lures. The other day, I arrived at Green Lake just before dawn and some guy was telling me that won't work after looking at my Rap...

Re: Challenging Myself to Catch'em All

Thanks fishinChristian, I like to do my best to understand the regs, and so I never try anything that might jeopardize that. It's strange that Green Lake isn't mentioned in this year's reg book supposedly the rules were clearer in the previous years. Anyway I'm a catch and release person, with no in...

Re: Challenging Myself to Catch'em All

@For Reel, Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a shot. I checked the regs: "Hook and line angling only. Barbed or barbless hooks may be used, and a hook may be single-point, double, or treble, but not more than one line with up to three hooks per angler may be used." Personally, I never use more than...

Re: Challenging Myself to Catch'em All

Thanks for the advice Weekend-warrior17, The locations I primarily fish out of are West Ewing Mini Park(the Lake Washington Ship Canal), Green Lake(Seattle's 'crown jewel') and Bear Shiva Park(it's a boat launching site for Lake Washington). I've noticed strangely none of these waters have a signifi...

Re: Challenging Myself to Catch'em All

@ Mike Carey, Thank you Sir! @ For Reel, I think there will definitely come a time when I branch out and explore the rest of Washington, but I'm still kind of new to the area and so I want to focus my efforts on the local fishing holes within say...an hour of City Central. It's been really great exp...

Re: Twin Ponds I-5 and 145th N. Seattle

Thanks whorde for the tip. I've since managed to catch some sculpin on worms and jigs. Interesting looking critters. Twin Ponds Lake - Revisited Fished at this location earlier today. I wasn't sure whether or not to submit a report, since it's not a particularly great place to fish and it's not list...

Challenging Myself to Catch'em All

As a recent transplant to Seattle. I absolutely love the fact that there are lakes all over King's County within my driving distance. So far, I've managed to fish a few different locations. I'm constantly looking to try different lures, baits and techniques. Back in NY, where I originate. I had soug...

Re: Where to buy bait

Your right, I think the huge selection and the high sales tax are really what gets to me. There's also a membership option, I don't know how that works in relation with the fishing gear, the store sells a bunch of other outdoors stuff. That might be something to look into if you intend to be a long ...

Re: Where to buy bait

Places I've heard or have gone for bait: Big 5 Sporting Goods 1101 NW Leary Way Seattle, WA 98107 (206) 706-7531 http://s8.postimg.org/8cevp3kn5/IMG_3458_1.jpg This Big5 located in Ballard sells live bait but the fridge is completely empty at the moment. Staff say they do not know when it will be r...

Re: FISH IDENTIFICATION

I'm new to the State and never caught sculpin before, until tonight. I was just tossing a lure around in the dark and somehow managed to catch one sucking on the grub jig without the hook, it fell to the ground and not being familiar with the fish, I used a twig and flicked it back into the water. I...

Re: Ronald Bog

Came to fish for carp, lost the battle... Arrived at the park around noon, noticed a couple seated by the bench on the right. Decided to give them their privacy and walked towards the edge of the lake on the left. Cast out a few times, even tried to lure them with a few pieces of corn. Spend 2 hours...

Re: TUKWILA PARK POND

From my understanding, 'Black Bass' is an umbrella term for largemouth, smallmouth, and sometimes even rock bass. In the past, I mainly fished for largemouth so when I see baby smallmouth or even rock bass, I get confused by the way they look. So rather than mislabel them I just call'em black bass.

Re: TUKWILA PARK POND

lol, my plan is really to try and conquer one lake at a time. I'm explore various lakes that are within an hours drive from where I live near downtown Seattle. Most of these lakes are urban places, once I manage to figure out what works and what doesn't in these lakes, I'll branch out to more of the...

Re: TUKWILA PARK POND

Went here to fish today at around 2pm - 5pm, interesting location. It's almost semi-secluded, with a few people walking through the park. The sign seemed very worn out and luckily google maps managed to find it. Parking was a bit confusing as it's shared with Target. After reading the first post on ...

Re: CARP! The official 2014 carp thread

I was wondering maybe this would be a good place to ask, if there are any fishing stores that carried or specialized in carp tackle. I've been looking for two types of items, one is a threader of sorts, it's used for threading pop-up boilies(for carp). I know there are generic threaders available at...

Re: Ronald Bog

Didn't want to start a new thread since this one existed, Sorry to trudge up an old one from 2011. I just got back from a trip to Ronald Bog Park in the late afternoon close to sunset, plant vegetation surrounds the pond with very few access points from the shore. Mainly 3 openings from the front of...

Re: Twin Ponds I-5 and 145th N. Seattle

The Quad had also recommended Ronald Bog park to me, but his description of Log Boom park left me really curious. I did manage to try fishing Log Boom but couldn't manage any strikes from carp, I did see a few baby bass around the piers. Yesterday was a weekend, so there was a lot of foot traffic on...

Re: Twin Ponds I-5 and 145th N. Seattle

Stopped by this lake briefly to see if it'd be a potentially good place to fish. I was surprised because I actually frequented one of the churches nearby and had parked in this park's parking lot several times, but had no idea there were two ponds just past the parking lot. The twin ponds is surroun...
